Springring has a built-in Chat functionality that allows you to connect directly with any of the Parents of your Students. Without having to give out your personal phone number, this can be very helpful for giving feedback to individual student's Parents. You can maintain a professional communication pathway.
With the Teacher Mobile App, you can chat directly with Students' Parents from your mobile device.
Your Steps to Start Chatting
Make sure that Chat is enabled from your settings. If you can't see the Chat icon, then contact the school admin to enable chat. Note that only a Class Teacher can chat with Parents.
- Tap on the Chat icon
- Tap on the New Chat icon to start a new conversation
You will be presented with a list of your Class Boards. Selecting a Class Board will then display the Students that are a part of it. Selecting a Student will begin a new chat with that Student's Parents.
If you have already chatted with a certain Student's Parents before, your chat history will appear under Direct messages. The communication that takes place always contains both Parents.
When you tap the options button next to the Student's name, you will find the information of both Parents.
Quiet Hours and Disabling Chat
As a Teacher, you have the ability to set Quiet Hours. When you are busy teaching a class and do not want to be disturbed by messages, you can set specific hours where you can be contacted. During Quiet Hours, Parents will receive an automated message explaining that you are busy and will get back to them as soon as possible.
Note that the Chat function can be controlled and enabled by the Admin. If the Chat is disabled, then Teachers will not be able to communicate with the Parents. A school can also decide to not have a Chat option at all as part of a different Springring package. If you would like to Chat with Parents, please check the availability with your Admin.
